The joy of coming back together
Written December 5, 2021
“If there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s not to take these things for granted.” This was part of the pastor’s welcome and it hit home.
It’s been two years since we got to sing along at Broadway Presbyterian Church in person. This event always reminds me of the decades of Christmas Eves at my parents’ or my aunt’s, where we would all sing carols and because my mom was involved, we had song books and a special golden ring for everyone’s favorite, The 12 Days of Christmas. Although the ring may have come from a cousin … it’s hard to remember the details now. What I do remember, other than the fact that none of us were musically inclined, was how warm and fun those holidays were, and how much we looked forward to them.
Tonight I am grateful for a reminder of what I love about this season when we’re not all running around- that at some point we get to put things on pause and come together and just enjoy one another’s company. Because we are also reminded how easy it is to take these things for granted, and how wonderful it is to come back together again.
