Raising a snapshot to one of the best
Written June 21, 2021
For as long as I can remember, my dad has been the one behind the lens (sometimes the fancy long lens) of the camera, capturing as many memories as the shutter would allow. Vacations, holidays, family shots, extended family shots, games (if you played any sport with myself, Lauren or Michael, you probably have a small album from the Tom T. collection), big moments, little moments, birthdays, births, anniversaries, weddings, showers (he specializes in both bridal and baby showers) and just about any other event or non-event you can think of.
We have volumes of memories, in both digital and print media. And every time I’m in Maryland, I sit down with the albums, finding so many memories I remember and others that I think I remember, or maybe it’s from looking at those pictures a million times over the last couple of decades.
Today we celebrated his birthday from afar, knowing we’ll get to celebrate in person soon. And we’ll leave with captured memories in print, digital and videos too, but most importantly, we’ll get to spend time with the man who taught me how to tell a story- whether it was in words or in pictures- and if we’re really lucky, we just might get him in front of the camera a few times too.
Happy birthday Dad. We can’t wait for your false promise of just one more shot and then the 10-15 shots that will come after it
