Waiting is the hardest part

Written March 21, 2021

One year ago, C and I set out on a search for Big Foot. We had a great two hours looking for him/her, and then when we got home she fell apart. It was like for a little bit, our city felt normal, but as we got closer to home the reality of the situation became unavoidable.

A year later, a lot remains closed but we continue to be awesome even though our true colors aren’t always so pretty. We stay awesome while managing school in a hybrid setting, sometimes closed and sometimes open. Our awesomeness continues as we continue to ride this out on our small island, in a smaller apartment, waiting for our turn for the vaccine and a chance to safely see our extended families again.

The search for Big Foot continues too. I have a feeling he/she is pretty awesome. Once we are back to a more consistent schedule, maybe we’ll get a glimpse. Or a hug. Until then we mask up, take a million deep breaths and cheer on our friends and family who got their vaccines, even though sometimes, that feels a little hard too. We mask our envy knowing our time will come and our city’s time will come. So we may have been closed for awhile now, but we’re still pretty awesome. And for that, I am grateful.
